WKDF Building in Downtown Nashville – Olympus OM1 with OM 50mm f1.8 – shot at f11, 1/500 on Kodak Portra 400 – Developed & Scanned by the Film Box lab in Nashville, Tennessee

I finally finished a roll of Kodak Portra 400 in my Olympus OM1. I’ve been working on this roll of 36 shots since November. The shots in this post are from some urban trekking in the Tennessee cities of Columbia, Franklin and Nashville. All shots were taken in the early morning hours or late evening. The film was developed and scanned by the Film Box team in Nashville. I was very pleased with the final results of this shoot. I really like how the Portra 400 stock handled the night lights in the Square Market Cafe shot. I will have to do some night shooting to really get a good feel for shooting this stock after sunset. This was my last roll of Portra 400. I reloaded with a roll of Fuji Superia 400 as I have plenty of this stock in the fridge. After seeing the results from this roll, I am about to order several rolls of Portra 400 and I am going to purchase some 120 stock for my Mamiya. Check out the slide show below for the remaining images.

  1. Those are indeed very nice, Travis. Great color and clarity from the Portra, not to mention some excellent compositions and interesting views of middle TN.

    • Thank you! Portra 400 has become my “goto” color stock. I really love the muted colors and the fine grain. It works great for portraits and anything else. However, I believe I am going to try some Ektar and Velvia for some landscape work as they are more saturated. The Spring colors are just around the corner!
