I’m sure everyone has heard the phrase that is the title of this post. This is Kissel Entertainment’s tag line. They have been turning frowns upside down on the Midway for generations. It’s hard to step onto the Midway and not crack a smile. Possibly the only time you might see a frown is when you can’t see the end of the line to your favorite ride, but even then, the wait and anticipation is worth it.
Given current events, I can’t think of a better way to escape than attending a county fair. It’s almost as if you are stepping off the plane onto Fantasy Island. That is if your fantasy is to have fun with family and friends in a festive atmosphere. The sounds of laughter, screams, music, bells and sirens along with the smells of food against a backdrop of colorful flashing lights is a great way to escape reality. Even if it is only for a few hours, it’s still a good way to recharge your batteries and improve your outlook going forward.
These photos were taken at the 2020 Maury County Fair in Columbia, Tennessee and the 2020 South Central Area Fair in Hohenwald, Tennessee. The location of each picture is in the caption. I hope you enjoy the slideshow!
Thanks to Kissel Entertainment for allowing me to capture some memories. Life on the Midway appears to be a lot of fun, but I know there is a lot of teamwork and hard work behind the scenes to get such an operation running and to keep it running. Tearing down a complete unit in a town one week and erecting that same unit in the next town the following week must be daunting task. You have to have a great team in place to pull that off time and time again.
Thank you to the Maury County Fair & Expo and the South Central Area Fair for their hospitality. Looking back, I figured the county fairs would be canceled. I’m glad Columbia and Hohenwald decided to follow through with their events. The turnout was great! It was a breath of fresh air to see all the smiling faces and people having a great time.
