rediscovering familiar places

I have a list of projects I could be working on, but over the last couple of days I just couldn't find the motivation to tackle any of them. Whenever I get into one of those moods but still feel the urge to create, I usually take a relaxing walk or head out for a drive through places that are both familiar and, occasionally, new.

Yesterday, I found myself on the Natchez Trace Parkway, a road I know well. I stopped by a few of my favorite subjects, and many of these scenes will probably look familiar to you. The overcast skies and occasional light rain added just the right atmosphere.

One of the things I love most about photography is discovering new compositions in places I've photographed countless times before. Rain or shine, there's always something new to see.
