when the moon slipped into shadow

It was a gift to have clear skies for the lunar eclipse—a rare night when the sky seemed to invite me to stay a little longer. The hours were late and morning came quickly, but watching the moon slip into shadow made every lost hour of sleep worthwhile.

Rather than setting up one of my telescopes, I chose to keep things simple: just a camera and telephoto lens, letting the light, the moon, and the quiet of the night do the rest.
